CIA is a faith formation program for adults wishing to become Catholics, as well as, for individuals who were baptized into the Catholic Church but have not received instruction and have not received the sacraments of Holy Eucharist, Confirmation and Reconciliation. Sessions meet on Tuesday evenings and begin in September and conclude four weeks after Easter. The primary material used in class is the United States Conference of Bishops United States Catholic Catechism for Adults. This book is based on the four pillars of the Church: (1) The Creed: The Faith Professed; (2) The Sacraments: The Faith Celebrated; (3) The Christian Morality: The Faith Lived; (4) Prayer: The Faith Prayed. The Christian Initiation process prepares adults to receive Baptism (if not already baptized), Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.

In November 2018, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops approved a new pastoral letter against racism, Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love. In the letter, the bishops invite all people of faith to conversion. Faith Formation and Adult Catechesis classes are offered periodically during the year. These events and classes aim to inform and challenge parishioners to deepen their faith and to awaken a curiosity to learn more about Catholicism. Classes have studied the lives of such notable saints as St. Ignatius, St. Teresa of Avila, and St. Therese of Lisieux. Other topics of interest have included the study of the rich legacy of Vatican II, the theme of pilgrimage, and Darwinism and Christianity. Classes are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month for parents who plan to have their child baptized at Sacred Heart Church. These classes may be taken any time prior to baptism. Please contact the Parish Office at 916-452-4136 to register for the class.
Evenings for the Engaged is a six-evening marriage preparation program, highlighting matrimony as a vocation to love. The evenings are facilitated by married couples and are conducted in their homes. MOMS is a parish ministry formed to awaken mothers of all ages and life stages to grow together in their sacred vocation of motherhood. The 8-week session is held twice a year with a group of 10 to 12 mothers each session aimed at fostering growth in the faith, building friendships and deepening personal spirituality.
