Confirmation completes the sacramental grace of Baptism. It is the second of the three sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist). Confirmation gives us the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit, enabling us as God’s children more readily to cry out, “Abba! Father!” Confirmation also binds us more closely to the Church and unites us more firmly to Christ. It increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us, enriching us with the Spirit’s special strength. It also empowers us to spread and defend the Christian faith by word and deed.
Did you or someone you know miss out on receiving the sacrament of Confirmation? If you would like to receive the sacrament of Confirmation there will be a morning class for adults to prepare them to receive the sacrament. The class will be held in the Parish Hall on Saturday, March 19, 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Please contact our Adult Faith Formation director, Rita Spillane or call to leave a message at 916-452-4830 to sign up for this class or to learn more about this opportunity.
A sponsor is a person chosen by the candidate to walk the journey of faith as a companion and mentor to the youth being confirmed.
A fully initiated Catholic has been baptized, confirmed, has made first Communion.
